Legionary Show

Image
Legionary is almost my local show as Exeter is only 60 ish miles away so when Orange Dave floated the idea of us partnering with Rob at Scarab to put on a demo/participation game of Zero Hour my interest was understandably piqued.   The French advance through a shattered wood. Germans man the trenches. More about our Zero Hour game in a later post. Dave has put a huge amount of effort in to this project and I think it shows! The show is hosted in the Matford Centre which is spacious, bright and airy. The people running things were readily available, efficient and very helpful. It’s easy to find too, so we arrived in plenty of time and headed for a McBreakfast (thanks Dave!) before unloading the car. Here’s a few pics of some of the games:   Blood & Plunder from Firelock Games. This game drew quite a bit if attention - just look at the galleon ... Arrrr me hearties! Devon Wargames put on this large game of TFLs "Kiss me, Hardy!". The boats are from Warlord (I think) and ar...

Devizes Show Report

Last weekend was show time again for Charlie Foxtrot Models and Colin kindly invited me along to help out.  Here we are. Business was quite brisk on Saturday so I only had time for a quick look around the games but two in particular looked very good.  The first is WWII in the east, put on by Brian, Chris and Laurie ("Combined Oppos") with the Japanese trying to capture a bridge from Allied forces. The other was another WWII game set around the Red October factory, this time in what looks to be 15mm, possibly 20mm?  Very impressive. The show itself seemed well organised and quite well attended.  Also, a big thank you to Tom and Lloyd (nice to meet you fellas!) for helping Colin pack up and load the van! Much appreciated :o)

Another January and another chance for this dynamic duo to strut their stuff!  Colin kindly asked me to join him on the Charlie Foxtrot stall. It was suggested last year that Colin and I looked like a slightly camp, ageing boy band... So Colin went for a new corporate look ... it certainly drew a few comments! :-D Colin also had a little present for Lard Supremo Big Rich. Here are a few pics of some of the demo and participation games on offer. Robber Knights using homegrown rules A fantastic AWI table Beautifully painted figures too The British hold the fence line The same Charlie Foxtrot kit (Tidewater) used for both buildings. A superb Star Wars Legion table The Battle of Omdurman - this was so good! An epic Age of Sigmar game The Lardies running a very enthusiastic participation game! Reinforcements! Saga v2 An astonishingly large and crowded Indo-China war table Skirmish Wargames - Normand...

Colours 2018

Image
Mid-September so it must be Colours!  Colin kindly invited me to join good chum Paul to help out with the Charlie Foxtrot stall at this years show.  Here we are! The three ... err ... musketeers? We were delighted to have a little chat with two well-known figures, namely Alec Brown from Front Rank and Dave Bodley from Grand Manner.  Nice to see you there chaps. Alec, Me, Paul and Dave All three of us really enjoy manning the stall and chatting with fellow gamers about their projects, helping them choose the kits they need, etc.  This show was particularly busy at times.  However, we did manage to have a quick nosey round the stalls and tables. A large ECW game - just before opening time! Love the flock of  sheep - from 1st Corps Operation Goodwood A nice little scene WW1 in the Middle East Liked the little dioramas Camels! Some explosive Bolt Action I think this was an 1812 winter retreat game The ECW...
